Dear members,
Thank you for your support which made for a very successful 2016.
The Board of Directors is excited about new opportunities for members that are being pursued in 2017. These initiatives are in response to organizational needs, member feedback and are intended to accelerate pursuit of the Federation's chartered purposes. I would like to invite you to learn more about the Board's plan during an upcoming members' teleconference.
Thanks to school owners who participated and supported the Fall Membership Drive and made it a success, the Board has approved sustaining the New Membership Kits as a year round benefit for 1st time members effective immediately.
The Board has also approved implementation of a new benefits package for all Renewing Members also effective immediately.
The positive response received from members during the Membership Drive helped inform the Board that these were areas worthy of additional investment and the Board has approved that investment for 2017.
Member support for protecting our Moo Duk Kwan identity has been very strong with members contributing more than $47,000 that was applied toward that important cause in 2016 plus providing generous support for a number of other Federation programs and initiatives.
Throughout 2017 the Board plans to build on your support of our identity by providing exciting new opportunities for all members to showcase the Moo Duk Kwan identify by wearing branded apparel that will be available throughout 2017 via a series of apparel campaigns providing a variety of different name brand products.
These apparel campaigns featuring school logos are also being offered at NO COST to school owners who would like to strengthen their identity in local communities.
Mobile friendly websites are being made available for instructors and school owners on the Soo Bahk Do Biz Network. Entrepreneurial training, tools and resporces have been added to www.soobahkdo.biz to help support members who want to become instructors and to help promote public visibility of the teaching efforts of all instructors and school owners.
The Board's Long-Term Planning Workgroup is launching a school owner survey to gather information, ideas and recommendations for strengthening the Federation's future and expanding support of instructors and schools. Less than 1% of all students ever become certified instructors or school owners and the preservation of our art is in the hands of dedicated members who become certified instructors and school owners.
The Board has also convened the "Board Awards Committee" to seek out and recognize significant milestone achievements by members.
The 2017 National Festival will be hosted by Region 6 August 10-12 in 2017 and the 2017 Moment With The Masters and Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa will also be hosted in Region 6 November 10-17 and we hope you'll make plans to attend.
I invite you to join the members's teleconference on January 31, 2016 9:00 PM EST and should you have questions you would like to pose, please submit them to me in advance so an informed response can be prepared for those we have time to cover during the call. rs37352@yahoo.com There may not be time to cover every question.
