Greetings Federation members and supporters,
I hope this finds you well and in the best of spirits.
Please find below a summary of recent discussion points and action items from the Board of Directors as well as other information for your awareness.
2019 National Festival
The room block at the Red Lion Hotel for the 2019 National Festival is sold out. The Board authorized the execution of an overflow room block at the nearby Oxford Suites which is located directly across the street from the Red Lion Hotel and provides convenient accommodations for Festival participants.
Reservations can be made at the Oxford Suites by calling the hotel directly at (503) 283-3030 or the toll-free number (800) 548-7848 and mentioning Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Federation in order to obtain the negotiated group rate.
Only two (2) kings and ten (10) double rooms remain as of 06/01/2019
2020 National Festival
We are still searching for a suitable venue for the 2020 Festival. Our goal is to be able to announce the date and venue at this year's Festival. Any member or region official interested in hosting the 2020 Festival can submit a location and venue proposal by using this online venue proposal form which also provides general facility specifications. Volume 1 Autographed Collector's Limited Edition
Preorders are now open for an Autographed Collector's Limited Edition of Moo Duk Kwan® Founder Hwang Kee's Volume 1. This 400+ page hardback is sequentially numbered and personally signed by Moo Duk Kwan® President, H.C. Hwang, Kwan Jang Nim. Get more information and preorder your copy here.
If you are interested in obtaining one or more printed or digital copies of regular edition Volume 1 on an ongoing basis after the limited Collector's Edition preorders end, please complete the Volume 1 reprint survey.
Your input will help the Board make informed decisions about how to proceed with reprint and production of Volume 1 after preorders for the Autographed Collector's Limited Edition have concluded.
Silent Auction
Sa Bom Nim Bill Nelson is collecting items to be auctioned off at the 2019 National Festival Silent Auction. If you'd like to donate an item or experience for auction please contact him by email at wnelson@arvig.net or by phone at 320-980-1179.
Growth Teleconferences
Growth Teleconferences, facilitated by Board Vice-Chair George Broyles, continue to be held on the last Sunday of each month. The most recent Growth Teleconference was Sunday, May 26th and featured Jared Rosenthal Sa Bom Nim discussing “How To Use the National Festival to Make Your Students and Your School Famous!”
Receive Growth Teleconference dial-in info and link to each Growth Teleconference wall by texting GROWTH to 70000. You may also request specific topics and speakers or volunteer to be a presenter by visiting the teleconference wall or submitting them through the online training topic submission form.
