Moo Duk Kwan 75th Anniversary Update
Nov 6-9, 2020
Greetings Federation Members and Supporters,
I trust this finds you and your families well and excited about the quickly approaching Moo Duk Kwan® 75th Anniversary. (Nov 6-9 online)
Thank you for your tremendous support of the 2020 National Festival and 1st Moo Duk Kwan USA Virtual Competition!
This was truly a historic event with over 350 competitors, 520 video submissions, and 84 divisions. The first ever virtual competition was a success because of your participation and the support of the Kwan Jang Nim and the officials that worked to make this event happen.
- Spectator Tickets are available to view all Prerecorded Competition videos:
- Live & Prerecorded Competition results are available here:
- Medals and awards are scheduled for shipment to schools the week of Nov 9
- 1st Virtual Competition Merchandise will be available for ordering shortly
Through your actions, you have demonstrated the Moo Do Philosophy that the Founder instilled into our organization 75 years ago. As a result of this success, I feel that we will be able to continue providing virtual competition opportunities in the future as an addition to our traditional National Festival activities. This virtual option provides an opportunity for those who may not be able to attend an in-person event to continue to strengthen their connection with their brothers and sisters in the Moo Duk Kwan through the virtual component of that event.
Now we are preparing to celebrate the past, present, and future of the Moo Duk Kwan at the 75th Anniversary. This is a once in a lifetime event that will be attended by Moo Duk Kwan practitioners past and present, from all over the world!
The World Moo Duk Kwan 75th Anniversary Team has been actively publishing videos and other content showcasing our history leading up to this amazing event. Never before have you and your schools been provided with the opportunity to be a part of that history by attending the 1st virtual anniversary celebration of our Moo Duk Kwan family. Your homes and your schools can be the locations of celebration.
I personally was unable to attend the 50th Anniversary Celebration in Korea for a number of reasons, but the fact that the 75th is a virtual event removes nearly all barriers that would keep us from coming together in celebration as one Moo Duk Kwan Family.
Instructors and school owners, you have the opportunity to champion this event and connect your students to a global family of practitioners. Students, you get a once in a lifetime opportunity to see how broad your Moo Duk Kwan family is.
School owners are encouraged to consider making this a group event while adhering to safety protocols that are recommended for your location.
If gathering is possible for you, this would be a great way for you and your students to bond and connect with practitioners from all over the world.
If gatherings are not allowed or are not favorable in your area, practitioners still have the opportunity to join from the comfort of their own homes or other locations.
For your awareness, attached is information shared by the 75th Anniversary Project Delivery Team, on behalf of Kwan Jang Nim H.C. Hwang.
Please review, and if you haven't registered yet, now is the time!
Simply go to https://worldmoodukkwan.com/ and follow the registration link from that page.
School owners, your registration can be used so that your students can participate at your school location without having to register (if gathering is safe and allowed).
I'm excited about this event and the opportunity to celebrate with the Kwan Jang Nim, you, and so many others.
I look forward to seeing you there.
In Moo Duk Kwan,
Dwayne Townsend
Board Chair 2020
