Chairman of the Board Update

 

Dear Federation Members and Supporters,

 

I hope you are well.

 

In 2024 we have scheduled two of our national events for the first time in each of the hosting regions. Please save the dates in your calendar for these historic gatherings.

 

2024 National Festival and Championships

For the first time in our federation’s history, Region 3 will host this year’s 46th National Festival and Championship in Myrtle Beach, SC. Please mark your calendars for August 15-18, 2024 for this memorable event and summer vacation destination. We would like to thank the leaders in Region 3 who helped make this happen.

 

2024 US Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa and Moment with the Masters

The USA Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa and Moment with the Masters will be held in Region 7 in Minneapolis, MN. This will be the 1st time a 10th Dan, Larry Seiberlich SBN and 9th Dan candidates participate in the Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend this historical event in our US federation.

 

These past three years, I had the privilege and honor of representing Region 2 as a director on the board of the US Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Federation. During that time, I served the first year as the treasurer and remaining two years as chairman. With a team of elected, appointed directors and various committee members, we were able to accomplish many initiatives that directly impacts, strengthens and supports our federation members. Below is a short list to highlight some of the successes and projects currently work-in-progress from 2021 to 2023.

 

  • Technology Initiatives: (1) Gup Test Submissions and local certificate printing (2) studio owner portal (3) membership portal (4) Dan application online (5) regional official portal (6) national calendar support and (7) online federation event registration;
  • Improved communication and partnership between the federation and Soo Bahk Do Foundation. We were able to provide and distribute $10,800 to members in a form of scholarships for our members;
  • Simplify pricing and increasing value for national festival participants and families. We had nearly 120 members attend the banquet at nationals last year in Colorado;
  • Increase federation membership: In the last year from 2022 to 2023, we were able to increase membership 24% after years of steady decline.
