Greetings Federation members and supporters,
The Board of Directors held a meeting on October 30, 2019 and the following are the major discussion points from that meeting as well as other items for your awareness.
Board Director Election Results
The results of the Board of Directors election results for regions 1, 4, 5, 7 and 8 are below. The following representatives will serve a three-year term beginning January 1, 2020:
- Region 1: Paul Chiasson KSN
- Region 4: George Broyles KBN
- Region 5: Jennifer Resler SBN
- Region 7: Nicole Herlofsky KSN
- Region 8: Jennifer Rupert SBN
Congratulations to both re-elected and newly elected representatives and thank you for service to the members of your region and to the Federation.
Volume 1 Commemorative Edition update
Headquarters has received a proof copy of Volume 1 Commemorative Edition from the publisher and Kwan Jan Nim completed his review of the finished product. The publisher is working on production now and will ship the full order as soon as it is ready. Once the books arrive at HQ, they will be signed by Kwan Jang Nim and shipped to those who pre-ordered.
Those who pre-ordered have been asked to provide shipping instructions using this online form.
If you have not yet ordered a copy of the Autographed Limited Edition Volume 1, you can still order one while the limited supply lasts.
2020 National Festival and 2020 KDJSS
Hotel reservations are now open for the 2020 National Festival.
The 2020 Festival will be held July 23-25 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel at the Entrance to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. Visit www.festival.soobahkdo.org for a link to hotel reservations and other Festival information. Be sure to provide the group name SOO BAHK DO so you receive the group rate.
Multiple venues in Denver, Colorado are currently being evaluated to host the 2021 National Festival.
Region 7 has expressed interest in hosting the 2020 Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa in Minnesota and is working with Headquarters to secure a suitable venue.
Any member or regional official interested in hosting a future National Festival or Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa can submit a location and venue proposal using the online venue proposal form which also provides general facility specifications.

Background Checks and Child Safety Training
A showcase of certified Jo Kyo, Kyo Sa, Kyo Bom, CTP instructors and Certified School Owners who are compliant with the Federation's Background Check and Continuing Education policy adopted January 1, 2019 can be viewed on the Soo Bahk Do Institute:
If you have acquired a Continuing Education subscription on the Soo Bahk Do Institute and have completed a background check and child safety training, but do not see your name on the list, you can self-report at the link below:

Future Continuing Education Topics
The Board of Directors and the Technical Advisory Committee are committed to adding Continuing Education subscription content on a consistent basis to assist school owners and instructors with professional and technical development.
